Abstract

This article explores the impact of the 1994 Argentine constitutional reform on Latin American constitutionalism. Despite initial criticism and relatively less attention from comparative law scholars, the significance of this reform in strengthening social constitutionalism in the region requires a fresh evaluation after three decades in force. With its hits and misses, the Argentine constitutional reform of 1994 was less disruptive than other constitutional changes in the region. However, in hindsight, its results were crucial in consolidating new fundamental rights and incorporating international human rights law in the country.
