TENSIONS AND DEBATES AROUND DEMOCRACY

The objective of this text is to explore some tensions generated from the exaltation of
the individual and (negative) freedom over other constitutive values of the democratic tradition.
Four moments are developed regarding the reconstruction of the debates between both traditions. Finally, some reflections are presented around the current challenges of democratic construction and deepening in a context of exaltation of the individual over the common well-being.
